Mamelodi Sundowns have announced the signing of a player they acquired just before the close of the PSL transfer window on Monday.

Sundowns had a busy transfer window and wrapped it up with the arrive of promising defender Wandile Dube from AmaZulu, a left-sided centre who is expected to play a key role in the long-term future of the club.

Sundowns have been in the market for a central defender and were working behind the scenes to ensure they brought someone in before the close of the transfer window. Dube will compete with Khulumani Ndamane for a spot at left-sided centre back, giving head coach Miguel Cardoso options in that position.

Sundowns are believed to have followed the progress of the 22-year-old defender for some time and were determined to have him on board. He had not made a single appearance for AmaZulu at the time of signing for Sundowns, so the technical team may have to work on his fitness to get into the matchday squad.

He made 10 appearances for Usuthu last season in all competitions, following his promotion to the first team in the 2024/25 campaign.

During the transfer window, Sundowns signed Antonio van Wyk, Cassius Mailula, Siyanda Ndlovu, Katlego Ntsabeleng (permanent), Deano van Rooyen, Thabo Cele and Thabang Matuludi.
