Controversial media personality Ngizwe Mchunu has addressed the recent cancellation of his highly anticipated Bhinca festival, following a violent confrontation with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, saw Mchunu and his security team clash with EFF members who were reportedly protesting against the event. The situation escalated quickly, with reports of physical altercations and gunfire, forcing police to intervene to restore order.

Ngizwe Mchunu says a member of his security team fired an AK-47 assault rifle into the air after noticing firearms among an Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) group in Inanda, north of Durban.

Mchunu claimed that he and his team were inspecting the venue for the upcoming music event when they were confronted by the group. The EFF has since vowed to prevent the festival from proceeding, citing concerns over the event’s legitimacy and the conduct of the organizers.

Following the chaos, the EFF has reportedly opened a case against Mchunu regarding the alleged shooting incident. The cancellation of the festival marks another chapter in the ongoing tension between Mchunu and the political party, as both sides continue to trade accusations regarding the events in Inanda.
