Kwanele Foundation’s Sibisi blasts Ramaphosa over GBV at Ekurhuleni protest

The Kwanele Foundation’s founder, Sihle Sibisi, has publicly criticized President Cyril Ramaphosa regarding the government’s handling of gender-based violence (GBV) during a recent protest in Ekurhuleni.

We are tired of empty promises and the lack of tangible action from the highest office in the land while women continue to lose their lives to gender-based violence.

Sibisi, who has been a vocal advocate for survivors of abuse, emphasized that the current measures in place are insufficient to protect vulnerable women and children. She called for more accountability and urgent intervention from the presidency to address the systemic issues fueling the crisis.

The protest highlighted the growing frustration among civil society organizations and activists who feel that the government’s response to the pandemic of violence against women has been inadequate despite numerous pledges and summits.
