Joburg lawyer Lisa Gundelfinger Koppel, wife of Danny K, dies aged 41

Mother, wife of musician Danny K and lawyer Lisa Gundelfinger Koppel has died at the age of 41.

According to tributes posted on social media, she succumbed to cancer on Women’s Day on Monday.

The families have not made a public statement but Gavin Koppel, Danny’s father, shared a poem on Facebook pledging to turn his pain towards compassion and to help others “who need someone who understands”.

“There has been a massive outpouring of love from every quarter of South Africa. People have stood in solidarity with our pain. They are reaching out with so much love and unparalleled kindness to Danny and his three children at this time. Visitors have been streaming in to comfort us,” he shared.

TimesLIVE has reached out to the Gundelfinger family and to Danny K’s agent, his mother Pam Koppel.

Gavin Koppel thanked the media for “understanding what we are dealing with”. “They are respectful and I am grateful to them for allowing us time to mourn. Our family is united like never before and we will turn our pain into power.”
