10-year-old girl allegedly raped and killed in Kraaifontein

A 10-year-old girl from the Tomatieplaas area in Joostenbergvlakte, Kraaifontein, Cape Town, was reported missing after she failed to return home.

Her family and community members launched a search through nearby orchards and farms, continuing into the night. Her body was found in a farm dam near her home the following morning at around 08:30.

Police and forensic investigators attended the scene, and a murder investigation is underway. Reports have also raised allegations that the child may have been raped before her death, although the circumstances and cause of death are still subject to investigation and post-mortem findings.
No arrests have been publicly confirmed at this stage.
