World Cup Referee Appointed for Sundowns’ CAF Super Cup Clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a referee for next month’s Super Cup final between Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger, with the two sides set to meet at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday, 8 November.

The Brazilians will participate by virtue of being the 2025/26 CAF Champions League winners, while the North Africans are the reigning Confederation Cup champions — setting up what promises to be a blockbuster continental encounter at the Tshwane giants’ home ground.
For this important clash, CAF has appointed Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida to officiate the 2026 CAF Super Cup final. The 34-year-old is regarded as one of the continent’s finest referees, and he has officiated at major tournaments, including last year’s FIFA Club World Cup, which was held in the United States of America — as well as being selected to officiate at this year’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
The winner will pocket $500,000 (approximately R8.2 million), while the runner-up will walk away with $250,000 (R4.1 million) — meaning there is plenty to play for beyond the prestige of lifting the continental crown.
Sundowns, meanwhile, have one Super Cup title following their triumph in 2017 when they beat DR Congo side TP Mazembe — a match that was also played at Loftus, meaning the Brazilians will be hoping that home advantage can once again work in their favour as they look to add another piece of silverware to their ever-growing trophy cabinet.
