TMPD OFFICER AND ATTORNEY PARTNER REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR ALLEGED R1.75 MILLION ESTATE FRAUD
The matter against Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) officer Peter Nonyane (36) and his partner, attorney Charlotte Tibana (33), was postponed to Monday, 24 August 2026, for a formal bail application. Both accused remain in custody.
The accused appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 21 August 2026, facing charges of alleged fraud, theft and money laundering involving approximately R1.75 million linked to a deceased estate.
Nonyane was arrested on Friday, 14 August 2026, in Pretoria by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Polokwane, during a joint operation involving Pretoria K9, Briant S.O.R.T, Pretoria Flying Squad, Gauteng Water Wing, K9 Unit Command and Tracker SA.
Tibana handed herself over to the authorities on Monday, 17 August 2026.
Both arrests were effected in terms of J50 warrants of arrest.
It is alleged that on 28 October 2024, the accused apparently unlawfully transferred funds from a trust account linked to a deceased estate into the bank account of the Late Estate of Mr Masha. The funds were allegedly used to purchase a pre-owned Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 valued at R1.65 million from McCarthy Mercedes-Benz.
The matter remains before court and the investigation is ongoing.
