South African President Cyril Ramaphosa praises India’s leadership, says New Delhi ensured consensus on declaration

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday praised India for its leadership and organisation as BRICS chair, stating that New Delhi played a pivotal role in ensuring consensus on the New Delhi Declaration.

What India has done well was to organise an extremely well-organised summit. Organising summits is always a touch-and-go type of process. They direct the discussions, and they also cajole everyone towards a decision. So that’s what India has done extremely well.

Ramaphosa highlighted that India acted as the focal point in the process of achieving consensus among the grouping’s nations. He further noted the technological and agricultural advancements made by India, specifically mentioning the empowerment of small-scale farmers and women.

Technologically, you can see that India is moving ahead, doing many strides in agriculture. They have empowered a lot of small-scale farmers, women especially.
