Sick Hawks witness returns for Booysen cross-examination – SABC News – Breaking news, special reports, world, business, sport coverage of all South African current events. Africa's news leader.
The cross-examination of a Hawks member in the case of alleged underworld crime boss, Jerome Booysen is expected to resume in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.
This follows a postponement due to the witness calling in sick two weeks ago.
In the last court appearance, the defence counsel of Booysen questioned the credibility of the medical state of the witness.
Adv Amanda Nel argued that when the state called her as a witness, it was aware of her condition and its possible impact on the evidence.
Nel argued that Booysen was being prejudiced in terms of finances due to the witness delaying the matter.
The defence counsel of the other accused also said that the delays were prejudicing their clients.
Booysen is facing charges, including the killing of steroid smuggler Brian Wainstein in 2017.
