SA Teenager On Trial In Denmark
Mogamat Ashan Andrews is on trial at Danish third-tier side Holbæk Bold- & Idrætsforening as the Cape Town prospect looks to secure his first professional contract in Europe, the Siya crew has been informed.
The 18-year-old Hanover Park native is currently being assessed by the Copenhagen-based club. Andrews plays for Houtbay FC in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League.
The club was formerly coached by Michael Loftman, who has since departed to join University of Pretoria, leaving Andrews to pursue his European opportunity under new management. His trial at Holbæk represents a significant leap from ABC Motsepe League football to European semi-professional ranks.
The Danish Third Division side operates as a traditional pathway into the professional game, with clubs regularly producing players who progress to the Superliga and beyond. Andrews hails from Hanover Park, a Cape Town suburb with a rich footballing tradition despite socio-economic challenges.
Securing a contract would mark a breakthrough moment for the teenager and validate Houtbay’s development work at ABC Motsepe League level.
