SA Journalist Micha Reddy Freed in Djibouti, Set to Return Home

South African journalist Micha Reddy has been released and will be returning home.

This is according to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation’s (DIRCO) Head of Diplomacy, Clayson Monyela.

Reddy was reported missing after the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) lost contact with him from Saturday.

The Johannesburg based journalist was in Djibouti at the time of his believed disappearance with his Djiboutian counterpart, ICIJ Africa Coordinator Mohamed Willo Ismael.

On Monday it was confirmed that he had been located and had been held in custody by the country’s authorities for failing to obtain media accreditation.
