The ANC has once again humbled itself before voters and taken responsibility for its failures in government, saying it won’t make excuses.

ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says his party has failed South Africans in some respects but he has asked the country to give the ANC another chance.

We will not run away from the reality that confronts our people. We will not run away from the reality that in some areas we have failed our people. We will not run away from the reality that in some areas we have not done as well as we should have.

Ramaphosa was speaking at the ANC’s local government elections manifesto launch at Riverside Park near Diepsloot in Johannesburg on Sunday.

He said the party was aware of its shortcomings and was working to fix them.

We are not here to make excuses. We are not here to blame others. We are here to say we have heard you, we have seen your struggles, and we are committed to doing better.

Ramaphosa said the ANC remained the only party capable of transforming the lives of South Africans and urged voters to give the party another chance to prove itself.
