Police Kill Alleged School Robbery Gang Leader in Umlazi. Mnqobi Ayanda Nxele (born 2001), alleged leader of a gang operating in Hlokozi, was reportedly killed in Umlazi during a confrontation with police.

According to reports, police tracked him down. He allegedly opened fire on officers, who returned fire. A firearm was recovered at the scene. He was linked to several school and teacher robberies in the area.

Note: Claims of him dying in a car crash while fleeing appear to be false, he was shot during the police engagement.
