Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has provided an update on Sihle Nduli and the Buccaneers’ overall injury situation ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League encounter with La Cure Waves.
Ouaddou was speaking during a media briefing at the Orlando Amstel Arena as Pirates finalised preparations for their second CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against the Mauritian champions.
The Buccaneers were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw in the first leg in Port Louis last weekend, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of the decisive encounter in Orlando.
One of the concerns for Pirates has been the condition of Nduli, who suffered a serious injury during the league encounter against AmaZulu.
The midfielder has been sidelined since that setback, and Ouaddou admitted that the club will have to be patient as they wait for his return.
“Yes, I think you remember that we had Nduli that had a big injury. He’s out, you know, during the game of AmaZulu,” Ouaddou told the media.
However, there was some encouraging news from the Buccaneers camp, with Ouaddou revealing that the club’s medical room is beginning to clear as several players make progress in their respective recoveries.
“At the same time, I think the medical room is starting to be empty. And it’s good news,” the coach explained.

“And most of the players are now in rehabilitation. It’s just the phase before coming with the team.”
While Nduli’s absence remains a concern, the update suggests that Pirates are gradually getting closer to having a stronger squad available to Ouaddou as the season progresses.
