Nkosi Set For Championship Return?

Midfielder Ntando Nkosi looks set to play his football in the Motsepe Foundation Championship again in the coming season, after a deal to a Betway Premiership club did not materialise.

Nkosi was at University of Pretoria last season under head coach Kwanele Kopo and returned to Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of their pre-season. There were no plans to have the midfielder as part of the first team at Sundowns this season, and he ended up at Marumo Gallants, where he was being assessed. Nkosi was being assessed at Gallants along with Thando Buthelezi and Thulani Zandamela and only the latter was signed.

Soccer Laduma now understands that Nkosi is set for another season with AmaTuks in the Championship and was recently involved in a friendly match against Eswatini Premier League side Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Nkosi was promoted to the Sundowns first team in 2022/23, but was unable to establish himself as a regular on the pitch or the bench. At 22, Nkosi still has some time on his side and getting minutes at AmaTuks, just as he did last season, will give him an opportunity to keep growing.

AmaTuks are also expected to confirm the signing of Tshegofatso Bokaba, who was in the Sekhukhune United DStv Diski Challenge. Experienced campaigners Gladwin Shitolo and Samuel Darpoh are with the club and Soccer Laduma understands that there is a good chance of them being signed.

After finishing 11th last season in the Championship, AmaTuks have appointed Michael Loftman as their head coach, hoping they can challenge for promotion. They are expected to start the season with an away clash against newcomers Hope FC, who have been busy in the market signing the likes of Miguel Timm, Brandon Theron,
