Ngizwe Mchunu Confirms Bhinca Festival Cancellation Amidst EFF Clash

Media personality Ngizwe Mchunu has officially confirmed the cancellation of his highly anticipated Bhinca festival following a violent confrontation with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters in Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal.

The decision comes after tensions escalated on Friday, 18 September 2026, when Mchunu and his security team were involved in a heated clash with EFF members who were preparing for their own provincial manifesto launch in the same area.

We have decided to call off the event to ensure the safety of our attendees and to prevent further escalation of violence in the community.

Mchunu had previously alleged that his security team was forced to fire warning shots, including the use of an AK-47, after they observed firearms among the opposing group. The EFF has since opened a criminal case against Mchunu regarding the alleged shooting incident.

Police were forced to intervene to restore order, and a heavy security presence has been deployed in Inanda as both parties continue to navigate the fallout from the weekend’s events.
