National shutdown: Durban business chamber urges Ramaphosa to step in
The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the country’s business sector can’t afford a national shutdown.
The EFF, joined by trade union federation SAFTU, has planned a protest on Monday over the electricity crisis.
The chamber’s president Prasheen Maharaj says the country’s economy is already in a precarious state.
He says President Cyril Ramaphosa must intervene and put a stop the shutdown.
Law enforcement agencies need to take a zero-tolerance approach, provide a clear action and communication plan so businesses can prepare accordingly.
