ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula has stepped into the fray following a heated public spat between EFF leader Julius Malema and North West mining tycoon Solomon “MySol” Madibela. The tension, which has played out across social media and public platforms, saw Malema label the businessman a “small boy,” a comment that sparked widespread debate regarding the relationship between political leaders and the business community.

MySol is a solid entrepreneur who has built his business from the ground up, and such public disparagement does not serve the interests of economic development or the dignity of our business leaders.

Mbalula’s intervention comes as the ANC seeks to maintain stability in the North West, a region where both political influence and mining interests are deeply intertwined. While Malema has maintained his stance, citing concerns over business practices, Mbalula has urged for a cooling of tensions, emphasizing the importance of respecting entrepreneurs who contribute to the local economy.
