“My Last Year” — Allende Drops Sundowns Exit Hint Amid Transfer Speculation

Despite swirling reports linking him with a departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, Marcelo Allende has confirmed he remains at the club — but dropped a hint that this could be his final campaign at Chloorkop.
Addressing the media during a press conference at Chloorkop on Monday afternoon, ahead of Sundowns’ clash against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening, the Chilean playmaker insisted his focus is firmly on the task at hand.
Allende, who joined the Brazilians in 2022, was candid about his situation, revealing that he has not engaged with any suitors while reiterating his commitment to the club’s cause.
“I’m focused on my last year here at the club. I haven’t spoken to anyone. As I have said, I’m really focused, from everywhere. I need to play; I will always give my 100%. If not, I also support my teammates because I think it is the most important thing at Sundowns so that we bring good things to the club,” Allende observed.
The 26-year-old has been a key figure for Masandawana since his arrival, featuring in 74 matches and finding the back of the net on seven occasions. At international level, Allende has represented Chile at Under-17 and Under-20 level and boasts one senior cap for La Roja.
Last season, the talented midfielder played a pivotal role as Sundowns clinched their second CAF Champions League title — the crowning achievement of what has been a memorable stint in South African football.
With his future beyond this season now seemingly uncertain, Allende will be determined to bow out in style should this indeed be his swansong at the reigning African champions.
