Moloto exposes Chiefs weakness: ‘They are too slow’

Polokwane City coach Willy Moloto has revealed the weakness he identified in Kaizer Chiefs that helped his side turn up the pressure and fight back for a point.

The Limpopo-based side came from behind to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Amakhosi at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium over the weekend.

Chiefs took the lead in the first half, but City returned from the break with a more aggressive approach, eventually finding an equaliser in the later stages of the game.

Moloto has now explained what he told his players at half-time after identifying an area of the Chiefs defence they could exploit.

“No, at half time, I just went there and encouraged them, and showed them what is it that we need to do,” Moloto told the media.

“I encouraged them to say, remember the patterns that we are doing during the week, this is something that could work for us.

“We came back stronger, we know that their full-backs, they are too slow, their defenders are too slow, and if you put them under pressure, they lose concentration.

“So it’s something that I say, let’s keep on putting more pressure on them, let’s put the ball more on their half, then they will open up, and they usually open up.”

The draw at home saw Polokwane City sit eighth on the table after six games, with Rise and Shine now turning their attention to Saturday’s home clash against AmaZulu.
