Matlala refuses to comment on impalas being given to Sibiya
Alleged cartel kingpin, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has told the Madlanga Commission that he will not comment on the alleged delivery of impalas to suspended deputy national police commissioner for crime detection, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya.
Matlala says the recordings about the matter are under investigation and that he does not want to incriminate himself.
A recording played last year before the Commission alleged that Matlala had delivered 20 impalas to Sibiya’s farm.
Matlala who is being led in evidence by Advocate Mahlape Sello says he was not aware of the recordings when he made his affidavit and only heard the audio afterwards.
Matlala answers at the Commission.
Mine is, you were specifically asked in the ten six to speak about the delivery to General Sibiya of Impalas and any other form of gratification given to him. So, we can confine ourselves to the question as posed. The content of the recording we will deal with in the fullness of time.
Yes, Commissioner, like I said, I do not want to incriminate myself because I know that the recordings are under investigation. And by the time when I made my affidavit, I was not aware of that. So, I just heard the recordings after.
