Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Geordin Hill-Lewis clashed during a leadership debate organized by Arena Holdings. Malema rejected claims that the EFF is corrupt, while Hill-Lewis accused the party of destabilizing coalitions and being involved in misconduct.

Malema’s position: As TimesLIVE reports, Malema said that since the EFF was founded, none of its members or leaders has been convicted or charged with corruption in connection with holding office. He called on opponents to provide evidence and referred to the work of the party’s representatives in government.

Malema accused the DA leader of using corruption allegations as a smokescreen to hide his own party’s racism and failure to address the needs of the poor.
