Malema accuses DA’s Hill-Lewis of hiding racism behind EFF corruption claims at Joburg debate
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Geordin Hill-Lewis clashed during a leadership debate organized by Arena Holdings. Malema rejected claims that the EFF is corrupt, while Hill-Lewis accused the party of destabilizing coalitions and being involved in misconduct.
Malema stated that since the EFF was founded, none of its members or leaders has been convicted or charged with corruption in connection with holding office. He challenged his opponents to provide evidence for their claims.
Malema accused his critics of hypocrisy, inconsistency and pursuing a political vendetta.
During the exchange, Malema argued that the accusations of corruption leveled against his party by the DA are a smokescreen used to mask underlying racism. He maintained that the EFF remains committed to its principles despite the political pressure from coalition partners and rivals.
