Derek McInnes’ side made a strong start away to Heart of Midlothian FC in their Scottish Premiership encounter, taking the lead after 16 minutes when Kevin Kelsy won possession high up the pitch and exchanged passes with Ryan Naderi before placing a low effort past Hearts goalkeeper Beau Reus.

However, the home side hit back early in the second half, with Claudio Braga turning home an equaliser from close range before Calvin Miller put Hearts ahead in the 57th minute via a deflected attempt.

With the Gers pushing for a late route back into the contest, Makhanya rose highest in the 89th minute to meet Badredine Bouanani’s delivered free-kick, directing his header into the back of the net to seal his milestone goal to ensure the match ended 2-2, rescuing a valuable point on the road.

Reflecting on the result after the final whistle, the head coach acknowledged his side’s resilience while conceding that a victory would have been flattering.

“I think we deserve our point. If we’d scored a winner there, possibly it would have been unjust,” McInnes told Sky Sports.

“I liked how my team kept going, but there was a lot about tonight that I thought we looked very naive at times.

“We’ve got a young team and this ground can do that to you at times. For us, there was loads we can do better.”
