The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Taxi and Overload Control Unit successfully conducted targeted road safety operations on Tuesday and Wednesday, 25 and 26 August 2026, in the areas of Centurion, Akasia, and Pretoria Central.

These operations focused on ensuring roadworthiness and strict adherence to load compliance regulations amongst public transport and heavy motor vehicles.

During the two-day operations, the Taxi Unit impounded a total of 20 public transport vehicles found to be non-compliant with safety and operational standards stipulated by the National Land Transport Act (NLTA) and National Road Traffic Act (NRTA).

Furthermore, 45 heavy motor vehicles were fined for violating load compliance regulations, which are critical to maintaining road safety and preventing incidents caused by improperly loaded vehicles.

The TMPD will continue to conduct similar operations across all regions to promote compliance and reduce unnecessary incidents related to negligence…
