SECURITY GUARD GUNNED DOWN AT GIYANI MINE AS SUSPECTS ARRESTED
A security guard was shot and killed at a mine in Nhlaniki village, just outside Giyani, leading to the arrest of several suspects during a targeted operation.
The arrests were carried out on Tuesday by Mahosi Protection Services, who confirmed that one of the suspects is believed to have been directly involved in the fatal shooting. The suspects are also allegedly linked to illegal mining activities in the area, operating without proper permits.
Authorities and the security company praised the cooperation of residents within the Greater Giyani Municipality, emphasizing that community support played a key role in tracking down the suspects. Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests may follow.
