JUST IN: Nasir moves on to new club after Sundowns

Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir has finally found a new club after the end of his injury-ravaged stay at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nasir was a big star in Ethiopian football prior to moving to Sundowns but, throughout his time in South Africa, has spent more time dealing with injury issues than playing.
He initially signed for The Brazilians in January 2022 but then spent the next six months on loan at Ethiopian Coffee before then moving to Chloorkop in July of the same year.
Coffee’s then president Fekade Mamo told this website that this was the club’s biggest transfer ever.
At Sundowns, Nasir was only ever able to play 17 games with a return of four goals.
His last appearance for the club came way back in December 2023 when he played 45 minutes against Cape Town Spurs.
The biggest input he made at the Tshwane giants was in his first season (2022/23) when he scored four in 14 matches.

He then went on fruitless loan spells at SuperSport United, where he was deregistered halfway through the 2024/25 season.
Last term, he was out on loan at University of Pretoria, where his stay was again defined by injury.
The latest reaching KickOff is that he has signed for Mechal Sport Club in the Ethiopian Premier League.
Mechal – also known as Defence Force Sport Club – is an army team that is well resourced and finished third last season.
They will offer Nasir the opportunity to revive his career in familiar territory.
