Julius Malema’s EFF surges to 27% in unexpected municipality, claims latest poll
A recent Ipsos poll regarding the 2026 local government elections has indicated a significant surge for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
According to the data, the EFF has reached 27% support in the region, positioning the party as a major contender alongside the Democratic Alliance (DA) at 33% and the African National Congress (ANC) at 29%.
The polling results suggest that the political landscape in Buffalo City remains highly competitive, with potential coalition scenarios emerging where the ANC and EFF could theoretically surpass the 50% threshold, or the DA could seek alternative partnerships depending on post-election negotiations.
