Radio personality Gareth Cliff has weighed in on the political landscape in South Africa, offering a candid comparison between President Cyril Ramaphosa and his predecessor, Jacob Zuma.

Zuma is a very easy person to read. You know exactly what he is, you know exactly what he wants, and you know exactly how he operates. He doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what he is.

Cliff argued that while Zuma’s intentions and methods were often transparently self-serving, Ramaphosa presents a more complex challenge for the public to decipher.

With Ramaphosa, it’s a bit more of a guessing game. There’s this constant sense of ‘is he doing this for the country, or is he doing this for the party, or is he doing this for himself?’ It’s that ambiguity that makes him harder to pin down.

The broadcaster suggested that this perceived lack of clarity contributes to the frustration many South Africans feel regarding the current administration’s direction.
