Four car-hijacking suspects Taken out by Saps in
Four suspects are expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 September 2026, following their arrest for the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and a car-hijacking that occurred earlier today.
The incident began in the early hours of Sunday, 27 September 2026, at approximately 04:00, when a driver was stabbed and robbed of his white Toyota Hilux bakkie, valued at approximately R250 000-00 in Section C, Botshabelo. The matter was reported to the Botshabelo SAPS, and information was immediately shared with the Mangaung Metro DOCC Crime Combating Unit to assist with the recovery.
By 07:23, a search operation was launched in conjunction with a car tracking company. Utilising GPS coordinates, the joint team tracked the vehicle to Section U, where it was spotted driving recklessly at high speed. Following a pursuit, the vehicle collided with a security fence at a residence and was brought to a halt.
Four occupants, aged between 18 and 23, were tactically approached and arrested. During the processing of the suspects, one 23-year-old male was positively identified by the complainant as the individual who hijacked him. The vehicle, which was found with blood stains suspected to belong to both the victim and the suspects, was recovered along with a suspect’s cellphone and clothing. Local Criminal Records Centre experts were summoned to process the scene.
The suspects remain in custody and face charges of car-hijacking and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle. #TrioCrimes
