EFF hits back at AfriForum over Malema’s crimen injuria prosecution
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have responded to AfriForum’s announcement that it will be pursuing a private prosecution against party leader Julius Malema for crimen injuria.
The EFF views this as a desperate attempt by a racist lobby group to silence a political leader who speaks truth to power.
The case stems from comments made by Malema regarding a school principal in the Eastern Cape, whom he publicly accused of rape. AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit has successfully lobbied the National Prosecuting Authority to allow the case to proceed.
The EFF maintains that the prosecution is politically motivated and intended to distract from the party’s growing influence in South African politics.
