The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have dismissed the latest National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) charges brought against party leader Julius Malema, characterising the legal action as a calculated attempt to destabilise the organisation. The party leadership maintains that these charges are part of a broader, politically motivated campaign aimed at undermining the EFF’s influence in the South African political landscape.

The EFF remains unshaken by these desperate attempts to use the state machinery to silence the voice of the downtrodden. This is not about justice; it is about political persecution disguised as legal process.

In a sharp rebuke, the EFF accused the civil rights organisation AfriForum of weaponising the justice system to pursue a narrow, partisan agenda. The party argued that AfriForum consistently uses the courts to target black political leaders, thereby eroding public trust in the impartiality of the judiciary.

AfriForum has made it their mission to weaponise the justice system against those who challenge the status quo. They are not interested in the rule of law, but in the selective application of justice to protect their own interests and harass those who advocate for radical economic transformation.

The EFF concluded by reaffirming its commitment to its political programme, stating that no amount of litigation would deter them from their mandate to represent the interests of the marginalised. The party called on its supporters to remain vigilant and focused on the upcoming political challenges, asserting that the truth will ultimately prevail over what they describe as a malicious and orchestrated legal assault.
