EFF bid to oust National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza soundly defeated in Parliament

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has failed in its attempt to remove National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza from office.

Earlier today, the party’s leader Julius Malema argued that she was not fit for an impartial parliamentary role because of her party political allegiance to the African National Congress (ANC) and President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Malema tabled the motion in June after Didiza chose not to oppose a court application brought by Ramaphosa to interdict impeachment proceedings.
