Downs Coach Opens Up On Sibiya’s French Move

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso believes Thato Sibiya is ready for the challenge that lies ahead in the French Ligue 1.
Reports emerged of Sibiya’s move to Ligue 1 side Lille SC, set to initially start as a loan move with a possibility of it becoming permanent in the future. The young Sibiya, who is a junior international, was promoted to the first team at Sundowns last season and made his debut.

Sibiya made his debut for the senior team against Orbit College in the Betway Premiership and made a total of four appearances in all competitions for the club. He is yet to make an appearance this season, with a move to Europe set to be confirmed.
“Regarding Thato, fantastic opportunity. As you know, I coached in France, so I know very well the club where he goes to, I know very well the facilities they have, I know the the stability in terms of process of development of young players,” Cardoso told media during a press conference held at Chloorkop, Sundowns’ headquarters, on Monday afternoon.

“It’s a competitive environment he is going to face. Obviously I think he is ready for the challenge.”
“What will speak for him is not the level of readiness he takes. It’s the level of readiness he is going to still delevopment there because there are steps that need to be given there so that he can be provided opportunities in the first team.”
Sundowns have also agreed a deal for winger Thapelo Maseko to make a move to Copenhagen in Denmark.
Maseko is believed to have signed a three-year deal, getting a fresh start after the difficult period he had of not playing regularly at Sundowns.
