Dithejane forced to play peacemaker as big names collide

South African star Puso Dithejane had to play peacemaker during a confrontation between Argentina star Rodrigo De Paul and his Chicago Fire teammate Robert Lewandowski. Here’s a look.
Chicago Fire hosted the star-studded Inter Miami, who had Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Casemiro and De Paul in their starting line-up.
The Illinois-based MLS club also had a big name of their own in Robert Lewandowski, who opened the scoring in the 10th minute — but the game eventually ended in a 1-1 draw, as Brazil international Casemiro equalised shortly after half-time.
Puso Dithejane was introduced as a substitute in the 56th minute and, towards the end of the match, the South African found himself in the middle of an unsavoury incident as tensions boiled over between Lewandowski and Inter Miami’s Rodrigo De Paul.
Lewandowski was involved in a confrontation with De Paul, with Marca claiming that the Argentinian told the Polish striker: “Who the hell are you, you fool? I won two Copa Américas and a World Cup, you?”
Lewandowski could be seen surrounded by several Inter Miami players before Dithejane and one other teammate got involved to help the Poland centre-forward, who was visibly outnumbered in the situation — with the South African stepping in to calm tensions and diffuse the escalating conflict.
For Dithejane, it was another eventful night in what has been a breakthrough period at the MLS outfit, with the 22-year-old once again proving his value to the team — even when it comes to keeping the peace.
