Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz was delighted to secure maximum points against Sekhukhune United as they now look ahead to a big early-season clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
With no goals in the opening spell following a tight affair, the match looked destined to finish that way though the Amakhosi took total control as goals from Luke Baartman and Mduduzi Shabalala secured the points.
The Amakhosi sit on top of the Premiership table with a perfect record and the continued support in the stands forces them to go for the kill regardless of the situation.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, it’s a good team. The first half was maybe tactical at halftime and in the second half we accepted to be more free and play forward and to run forward,” da Cruz told SuperSport TV.
“It is very important, it forces us to create chances also when the fans come to the stadium so it’s what we try to do every time. But sometimes we arrive, sometimes we don’t arrive,” noted the coach.
The Amakhosi coach cited the lack of preparation and games in a short of space of time but have faith in the current squad to show up.
“It was the objective of this week to make a turnover because we were the only team with three games in six days so we have one day less for recovery.
“But I’m also very happy because the players who started they permitted the team to keep the same level. So, I trust these players and we have a squad full of players and all the players who are now injured will come back so it’s very important for the mindset of everyone,” da Cruz said.
