According to police spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala, the arrest was the direct result of intelligence-led policing under the banner of Operation Lockdown Three. Upon arriving at Xaki Street at approximately 21:30, the tactical team spotted a vehicle matching the description provided in the intelligence reports.
As police closed in, the situation escalated briefly when one suspect attempted to evade custody by fleeing the scene on foot while carrying a plastic bag. Officers reacted with speed and precision, successfully apprehending the individual. A subsequent search of the suspect and the immediate area revealed the following items:
- Two illegal firearms, which will now be subjected to ballistic testing to determine if they have been used in other violent crimes.
- 15 rounds of live ammunition.
The remaining occupants of the vehicle were also taken into custody without further incident.
