A message of solidarity and support for the victims of femicide in Gauteng has been sent by the organisers of an anti-GBV march under way in Sea Point, Cape Town, today.

It coincides with the funeral of 38-year-old Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo, a mother and runner from Kempton Park who was murdered after going missing during an afternoon jog.

Sea Point Anti-GBV March Co-organiser Jasmine “Jazzy” Essop says, “Arm yourself, go for your karate lessons or whatever you think you can do to arm yourself, because, walking alone in areas, women all the time get pulled away,  killed, raped, murdered – it’s so sad. Look at the cases in Joburg – 9 cases so far – the people are afraid of that side. So, we also want to show them our love and support from Cape Town to all the families who are mourning.”
