Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of another right back, bolstering their defence following the recent injury to Khuliso Mudau.
Sundowns recently announced Deano van Rooyen as a new player at right back after he parted ways with Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, and they’ve now confirmed the signing of Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City.
Matuludi’s arrival means Sundowns have loads of quality in that position, with Zuko Mdunyelwa and Thapelo Morena also competing for a spot there. Once Mudau returns from injury, the Tshwane giants will have five right backs as an option for head coach Miguel Cardoso.
Matuludi has been linked with Soweto sides Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, but the African champions have won the race for his signature. He had not made an official appearance for Rise and Shine since the start of the season, with many believing that it was only a matter of time he was going to be unveiled by one of the big clubs.
Sundowns have been busy recently with signings, also confirming the arrival of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele this week.
In total, they have made seven signings in this window, with Cassius Mailula, Antonio van Wyk, Siyanda Ndlovu and Katlego Ntshabeleng forming part of the list. Ntsabeleng was signed on a permanent deal having initially joined last season on loan from Major League Soccer side Dallas FC.
