Breaking News: Top Nelspruit has been arrested by the Hawks
A 43-year-old former legal practitioner has been arrested by the Hawks in Nelspruit for allegedly stealing more than R2-million from clients between 2018 and 2021.
She handed herself over to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit on Thursday, accompanied by her lawyer, after a warrant for her arrest was issued.
Investigators allege she unlawfully benefited over R1.6 million in one matter involving a deceased son, more than R452,000 in another involving a deceased wife, and also misappropriated nearly R117,000 from a trust account linked to a divorce case.
The accused, now working as an administration officer at her father’s funeral parlour business, is expected to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
