Breaking News: Saps Bug Boy Arrested For hijacking
A police officer has been arrested in Mpumalanga for his alleged links to a diesel truck hijacking syndicate.
The Flying Squad member was handcuffed in Secunda on Friday morning while preparing to go to work.
He’s allegedly linked to the hijacking of a truck in May, which also led to the arrest of four other suspects, who remain in custody.
Police found the officer in Sucunda in his full South African Police Service (SAPS) uniform.
A warrant for his arrest was obtained after preliminary investigations pointed that he could be involved in the hijacking syndicate.
He’s been taken to the Secunda police station for processing and is expected to spend the weekend behind bars.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said investigations are far from over.
“We can confirm that there are more suspects that we are looking for and we might arrest them at any time from now because we know who they are.”
