Baroka appeal PSL’s DRC decision

KickOff has obtained the latest update regarding the issue between Baroka FC and their former player Mothusi Gopane.
Following the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber’s ruling against Baroka, the club was ordered to pay Gopane all his outstanding salaries plus interest.
The legal battle originates from a highly contentious contract split between the player and the Limpopo outfit’s management.
After a string of poor performances last season in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Bakgaga management demoted several players, including Gopane, to train with the club’s reserves, and a 25% salary cut was introduced from November 2025.
The PSL DRC fully supported Gopane and ordered that the club pay his earnings in full.
“The club has appealed the decision of the DRC, and they’ve gone to the SAFA arbitration. What remains now is, we are waiting for the date from SAFA for the sitting. That’s what we are waiting for,” says Football Union of South Africa secretary general Taelo Motloung, speaking to KickOff.
Baroka currently compete in the ABC Motsepe League, following their relegation from professional football last term.
