Bafana Winger Returns to Saudi Arabia
Al-Ettifaq forward Mohau Nkota will fly back to Saudi Arabia this weekend as he prepares to return to the field.
Nkota was sidelined since May when he suffered a knee injury and missed Al-Ettifaq’s last games of the season.
He underwent an operation and was ruled out for three to five months. Soccer Laduma can confirm that the 21-year-old is set to resume light training next week.
“Nkota is going back to Saudi Arabia this weekend,” Nkota’s representatives, P Management, informed Soccer Laduma.
“His operation was successful. He needs to regain his fitness, and he will start light training first.”
The 2026-27 Saudi Pro League kicked off on 13 August, and while Nkota is expected to miss the first few games, he could be available soon.
At the international level, the injury ruled out the Kimberley-born winger of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where Bafana Bafana made history by reaching the knockout phase for the first time ever.
South Africa’s senior national team will return to the field in late September when they feature in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea.
