ATM bombing suspect arrested in Thembisa
Ekurhuleni Metro Police arrested a male suspect in Makhulong Section, Thembisa, on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, following information linking a group to ATM bombings.
The suspect was found with dye-stained cash allegedly taken during an ATM bombing in Olievenhoutbosch. He then led officers to a residence in Kanana Section, where explosives and more dye-stained cash were recovered.
SAPS LCRC, the Bomb Disposal Unit and Explosives Unit were called to the scene. The suspect is being held at Rabie Ridge SAPS on charges including possession of explosives and suspected stolen property. He is expected to appear in court soon.
