Allende’s contract works in sight?

Marcelo Allende will be on an improved contract at Mamelodi Sundowns if talks for his extension ultimately lead to an agreement for him to continue with the African champions.

This has been part of the three-plus-two contract that he signed upon arriving from Uruguayan club Montevideo City Torque on a big-money transfer.

The 27-year-old has been averaging an incredible 44 games per season, making him a prominent figure at the club.

Sundowns have gotten full value for the money they spent, which was part of the reason why they exercised the two-year option on his deal prior to the Club World Cup last year.

That new contract will come into effect in the year that Allende becomes eligible to apply for permanent residence, allowing him to play on a non-foreigner registration.

Finances will play a huge part for that new contract to be signed and sealed, with clubs in the Mexican top league and the MLS having been placed on alert.

Information reaching this website from South America is that while Allende is happy to stay at Chloorkop, options in the North American markets will be considered.

However, with The Brazilians having the financial muscle, they could stretch their budget towards placing Allende amongst the highest earners in the Betway Premiership.

That will mean a package upwards of R10 million per annum, which equates to approximately USD618 000.

Allende’s package is always pegged against the greenback, which those back home in South America are familiar with.

Though he captained Chile at junior international level, Allende has only earned a single cap for La Roja.
