Agent On Downs Goalkeeper: ‘What Does That Tell You?’

Jody February has been praised for pushing through the tough times at Mamelodi Sundowns to make an immediate impact on loan spell to Siwelele FC.
February joined Siwelele on a loan deal before the close of the transfer window, a much needed move for him considering Sundowns welcomed back Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ricardo Goss into the team.
With Goss back at Sundowns, February moved further down the pecking order and it seemed the next best thing was to get a loan move to at least get a chance at regular game time. He did not play a single match last season at Sundowns and chances of getting a minute on the pitch were slim. So, the chance to join Siwelele came up and he’s made the most the most of the opportunity and there’s no telling what could happen in the future.
February was the hero for Siwelele in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16 clash against Polokwane City up north over the weekend, stopping two penalties in the shootout to send his club into the quarterfinals. Since he started playing, Siwelele have not lost in three matches, with a draw and two victories, including the shootout win. Before that, the club had not even won a match.
February’s loan deal does not have an option to make it permanent, but Siwelele could make an attempt to keep him for another campaign if he does well.
“There is no option to buy, no,” his agent Mike Makaab said. “But if ever someone deserves a break, it’s Jody February. Jody has been with me since he was a teenager. There are few players that I have worked with that have dedicated and committed through difficult times than Jody February. He is the most incredible person,” Makaab told

“When I watched the penalty shootout, I almost burst into tears. I watched the game and he was outstanding. At Ajax Cape Town, he was touted as the next top goalkeeper in the country and things just didn’t work out. But let me tell you; he’s an incredibly good goalkeeper. He is only 30 years old. Jody looks after himself. He has not played in a while and he comes in and plays with that confidence. What does that tell you about the guy?”
February will no doubt make the most of the time he has at Siwelele to play as much as possible. And the only way to keep playing is to be impactful in goal for the club.
