A woman has tragically passed away following a suspected medical emergency while driving along Lagoon Drive, near the Ocean Mall in Umhlanga, on Saturday morning.
KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services, together with IPSS Medical Rescue and other emergency services, responded rapidly after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the driver unresponsive. Advanced life support interventions and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were immediately initiated and continued for an extended period. Despite the best efforts of all medical teams on scene, the patient could not be revived and was sadly declared deceased.
The exact circumstances leading up to the incident remain unknown at this stage. It is believed the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the collision; however, this has not yet been confirmed and remains subject to further investigation.
All relevant emergency services remain on scene.
