Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has issued an update on the readiness of exciting winger Mohau Nkota, who recently completed a return to Pirates on loan.

The 21-year-old attacker was officially unveiled by the Sea Robbers on 3 September after sealing a season-long loan return from Al-Ettifaq. However, the coach confirmed Nkota arrived with a carrying knee injury from his previous team, delaying his second debut.

Nkota originally came through the club’s youth ranks before registering seven goals and five assists prior to his move away.

He was not involved in Pirates’ full team training on Friday. Ouaddou revealed that the Buccaneers will be without the winger’s services for around a month or four weeks as he recovers from an injury.

“Nkota is still with the doctors… receiving treatment,” Ouaddou told journalists during his pre-match press conference.

“I think he had an injury as well at his previous club, but I hope to in about three or four weeks.”

In his absence, the tactician will look to wide options like new signing Oswin Appollis to fill the void on the flanks.

The Soweto giants next turn their focus to Mauritian side La Cure Waves in a crucial CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg.

The match will kick off at 15:00 on Saturday at the Orlando Amstel Arena.
