Lungu: ‘The rest, I will let the football speak for itself’

New Orlando Pirates star Gamphani Lungu has opened up on his impressive start to life at the club after being rewarded for his impact during his first month in the famous black and white. Check it out!

The Zambia international joined Pirates at the start of the season and wasted little time making his mark under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Lungu featured in six matches during August, clocking up 392 minutes of action while scoring three goals and providing one assist.

He also created eight chances as he quickly established himself as an important attacking players for the Buccaneers.

His contribution has helped Pirates maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign while also reaching the MTN8 final.

The 27-year-old was subsequently named the club’s Player of the Month for August, capping a memorable opening month in Soweto

Lungu has now reflected on his start at Pirates, making it clear that there is plenty more to come.

“Been quiet, but definitely not idle,” Lungu posted on Instagram.

“Grateful to God for this opportunity and for the gift to do what I love.

“The welcome from the team has been amazing and the support from the Pirates family has been felt from day one. I’m extremely grateful.

“I am here to work, learn, grow, compete and most importantly enjoy the game.

“Player of the Month, August, a good start. We keep going. New beginnings, same love for the game.”
