Teams intercepted vehicles travelling from Musina towards Tzaneen.
A grey Toyota Starlet was stopped with 601 cartons of suspected illicit cigarettes, valued at approximately R235,000.
One suspect was detained and will face investigation for allegedly dealing in illicit cigarettes.
A Toyota Corolla was also found at the scene but was empty.
A white Toyota Starlet and VW Amarok fled and are being sought.
The operation involved the Mopani Tracking Team, HNW, Letaba Security, Hoshani Security, K9 Anti-Hijacking and Duiwelskloof SAPS.
